The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Australia announced that it was "extremely concerned" about the possibility of "further escalation" in the region and urged Australian nationals to evacuate Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Australia "remains extremely concerned about the potential for miscalculation and further escalation of conflict in the region," stated Katy Gallagher, acting foreign minister, on Friday.

According to Gallagher, Australia will keep collaborating with its allies in an effort to ease tensions and stop additional regional spillover.

The FARS news agency was informed by sources that Iran's air defence system was triggered in the province of Isfahan in response to "an object suspected to be a drone". According to the sources, "three explosions have been heard near an army base in north-west Isfahan." Around 1:30 a.m. AEDT (12:30 a.m. GMT), three drones were spotted flying over Isfahan. "These drones in the sky were destroyed by the air defence system," Iranian state TV continued. In the most recent back-and-forth between the two bitter enemies, Reuters reported on Friday that sources claimed Israel had launched an attack on Iranian territory.

Iran was previously the subject of a "do not travel" advisory, but the Australian government has since updated its advice, noting that "regional tensions are high and the security situation could deteriorate quickly with little or no notice." Additionally, "if it's safe to do so," the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) revised its advice to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories to leave.
