Black Desert Experiences Global Player Growth

After the successful Land of the Morning Light expansion and Black Desert FESTA event, Pearl Abyss, a Korean publisher and developer, saw a huge increase in new and returning players worldwide.

Black Desert saw a 267% increase in new players and a 335% increase in returning players in the past month, according to internal analytics.

Black Desert jumped 50 spots to 13th in the U.S. Top Sellers category in one week, according to Steam.

33,546 concurrent players was its highest in two years. Belgium (4), Norway (5), Germany (8), Spain (9), France (12), Netherlands (13), UK (14), Finland (14), Sweden (15), and Austria (17) also saw increases in Top Sellers.

On Twitch, Black Desert has reached the top 10 Trending Games bracket with 5,007,728 hours of viewership, up 118.9% in two weeks. Twitch stats and analysis site Sullygnome reported a peak viewership of 53,978, a 73.2% increase.

Several factors explain the huge player influx. First, the Joseon-inspired Land of the Morning Light update. Boss fights, authentic environments, and folklore stories are also included.

The new area scored 81 on Metacritic. Black Desert's evolution and engaging gameplay have also piqued influencers' interest. Finally, Black Desert FESTA's exciting announcements boosted player interest.
