Online Commonwealth Bank services down.

Some Commonwealth Bank app users cannot view their balances or make payments this morning due to a major outage.

Monday morning, Commonwealth Bank informed customers of app and Netbank issues.

After a major glitch prevented customers from using their bank cards or accessing their accounts for hours, Commonwealth Bank apologised.

Some users had issues with CommSec, the bank's financial services arm, and bill payment direct debits.

NetBank and CommBank mobile app users received error messages.

Customers were greeted with an error message that states, “current balance unavailable, we’ll show your balance from the last time you logged on” when opening their banking app.

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia is investigating and will update the outage later today.

In an update at 4pm, Commonwealth Bank said services are recovering following intermittent issues that some customers experienced across our banking services today.

“We can confirm we have identified the cause of the issue and services are being restored. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We know how much customers depend on us and sincerely apologise to those who have been impacted today,” the CBA said.

Down Detector reported 3,000 customer service issues by 9am.

The bank is Australia's largest, with more than 15 million customers across a range of services.
