Tyrrell said in a statement this evening:

I wanted to let you know that I’ve advised Jacqui that I will no longer be representing the Jacqui Lambie Network as a Senator for Tasmania. It’s not an easy decision. But it’s become clear to me that I no longer have the confidence of the Jacqui Lambie Network to represent it.

It’s nothing personal, and I have the utmost respect for Jacqui and for the Network. In fact it’s because I care so much about the Network’s success that I don’t want to be its lead in the saddlebag. If the Network doesn’t think I can represent it to the level it expects, the honourable thing for me to do is to leave. That way, any decision I make is a reflection on me, and not a reflection on the Jacqui Lambie Network.

I’ve never broken up with anyone. This doesn’t come naturally to me. But I think that what I’m announcing is the right thing for the Network, for myself, for Jacqui, and for the people of Tasmania.
